Caroline’s mother died suddenly in 2000 when Caroline was just three months old, so her grandparents assumed her care. The grandparents were raising a total of seven children of various ages and grade levels and they had no source of income to provide for all of them. Due to the poor living conditions at her grandparents’ home, a place was found for Caroline at EBCCK when she was about 10 years old. She is now in form IV, her final year of high school, and enjoys playing on the school football (soccer) team. She likes to be called Carol now, after Dr. Carol Saunders (a past visitor to EBCCK and a former Walindwa board member). She’s very tall and slender with a big smile, although a bit shy about sharing it with the camera.
